Has a couple ever gone there on a single 3-seater? I have a seaworthy 2009 Yama FX HO, but not sure how it would be to ride 3hr 2up through ocean waves.

Yes it can be and has been done. That said after several trips across there is no way I would plan on doing it just to many variables. In great conditions it wouldn't be too bad but in moderate or worse conditions it would really slow your trip down. Only way I would ever do it is by purchasing the rider a round trip plane ticket and having them plan to fly over and if conditions were awesome the morning of departure let them ride and swallow the plane ticket at least then if conditions looked bad for the return they could still take the plane back. Tropic Ocean Air is Cheap I bought some round trip tickets for June this year for $160 a month ago.

i rode 2up on my '13 FX HO last year, it was rough, but we managed. We faced a good 4-5 foot waves the entire trip, with some occasional 8 footers. The trip back was much better, nothing more than a gentle ripple out there once we got off shore away from Bimini. Only took us about 90 minutes to get home! We will be riding 2 up again this year, hoping for better seas.

I still haven't seen an official video. What's up with that? How a brother supposed to live vicariously?

Hey guys, I recently got a new Marine handheld VHF. It has a distress beacon function, but requires an MMSI number input into the unit for that to work. I contacted NOAA and said that the US MMSI is free, but to get an international one is upwards of $300. I would have to send my VHF into the factory to change the MMSI after I input, so I was wondering, do you guys use the international MMSI when going to BIMINI, or would the Bahamanian government monitor US frequencies/radios? Is it necessary to get an international MMSI?

So has anyone ridden to Bimini from the states on a stand up?

You'd have to have a fuel barge following it, no way it'd make it in one tank

Yes I am thinking about developing a dry brake fuel system for the new4 stroke and then have someone carry fuel for me. if you are not WOT all the time you can get about 1.5 hours out of a tank thats about 6 gallons.

That's gonna probably be a Guinness record on a stand up. It's a loooong trip on a sit down. It's gonna be a feat on a stand up.

Somebody did it on a Spark and only used about a quart of fuel. Perhaps I exaggerate, but it was very efficient.

I don't think I can do July but maybe August. How many miles is it?

About 60 as the crow flies, but more with the up and down of the ocean.
