Let's bring this thread back ahead of the season! Really hoping to get some groups together and meet some fellow ski riders this summer!
95% of the time, me and my brother ride Lake St. Clair, all through the channels, Mud Lake, up to Algonac and just all over. I will be out within the next few weeks to get the wetsuit portion of the season going!
Does anyone ride in Lake St.Clair or St.Clair river? Were always out there in the summer. Mostly ride around Mitchells Bay to Seaway and up through the river.
I’m usually down the river further towards the channel flowing into Lake Erie. What I’ve read seems like I’d have no “trouble” legally to be in Canadian waters as long as I’m not docking, and on a pleasure cruise. Sound about right? Not been up into St. Clair that far, is the ride worth it? Probably a good 45-60 minute ride to harsen island...I usually put in at Wyandotte

With the border closed that’s not a good idea. They are enforcing the border. When the border reopens then maybe it will be normal again.

hmmm, seems you are right...last year there wasn’t a “blanket” restriction on entry, if you were fishing or pleasure boating without docking, or making landfall, it was all good. Now, based on the following link, it seems I might not have the same sorta provisions. Gonna have to see how it plays out I guess

So last year I was stopped briefly by one of the Sheriff boats just informing us that they were still watching the border mostly in the middle of the lake. We did ride some of the shipping channels with no issues, but even last year the restrictions seemed to be relatively enforced. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day!
Either way, this year they are most likely going to have more patrols out being sure that there is no real border crossing going on.
GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – Five Canadians were expelled from U.S. waters Monday by U.S. Border Patrol’s Buffalo Sector. The boaters were on the Niagara River in Grand Island. “Th…

well, I’m not riding up in lake St. Clair, I’m down in the river area, and the channel leading to Lake Erie, which is technically in Canada...wasn’t stop at all there last year. Be interested in coming to ride some of those trails up there on east side of lake St. Clair if the threat of law enforcement wasn’t too bad
Ten Americans who were on board fishing charters that crossed into Canadian waters on the Detroit River are facing fines totalling $8,800, according to the RCMP.
