This was the day of Sandy at Chestnut Neck Boat Yard right around landfall... Could barely stand up straight due to the wind.

If you coming from the Mullica area I wouldn't make the drive. I only go occasionally because I work in north Jersey and we get out early on summer Fridays. At least in Hopatcong you can make a couple of hours of it as there's multiple coves & shoreline to explore. GWL is only 6 miles long and I can't imagine how crowded it is on summer weekends.
If you want a bigger lake, try Wallenpaupak but that's even 2-1/2 hours for me coming from the Princeton area. Of course there's always Sacandaga or Lake George in NY which are both fantastic if you doing an overnighter.👍 1Comment
