  • Center Hill Dam to Horse Shoe Bend Marina

It was a gorgeous day today hit 65 degrees and a little breezy . Put in at Edgar Evans Park ...wow was the water way down...Must be Nashvegas and I used it all up on the Caney Fork river ride when they had the gates open....
I went to 2 different launch ramps before I found one that ended in the water. 1 ramp was about 5 foot drop to the water....jeez has to be Nashvegas SVHO sucking all that water up. I would say Center Hill Lake is down about 20-30 foot.
I still liked the ride though and Center Hill Lake is one of my favorites. I last went out down there 2 years ago in my boat. I took a extra 11 gallons of gas with me even knowing there are plenty of marinas with gas , stopped at one and gas was $4.99 a gallon.....My Shell 89 octane was $1.93....SWEET....
I did a lot of boon docking in and out of coves and creeks...this is the best part.... exploring. I could never to that with my boat .

I went as far as Horse Shoe Bend Marina and stopped these and talked the owner for about a hour..real nice guy. Told me I could only go another mile to a sand bar and 1/2 mile after that was a dam , so I decided that was far enough and I like the paint on the bottom too much to lose it.

I live in Murfreesboro and used to live in nashville off old hickory. Went and rode priest in December on a warm day it was so low we went to stop and turn around and realized we was in inches of water. Messed both of our props up was a bad trip to a lake i don't care for. Im gonna ride center hill this year for sure say it every year and never make it out there. But cool pics makes me wanna go now lol

Center Hill and Dale Hollow are my favorite lakes locally. The water is much clearer and the landscape is great. One thing I've learned is when you have dam controlled water , you can lose very quickly. River riding is fun but you come back the same way and see the same stuff. If you ride a river like the Cumberland you are at safe water depths because of the tugs using it.
When Nashvegas and I rode the Caney Fork river up to Center Hill dam that was a great ride that can only be done when they are releasing a lot of water, maybe only a few times a year.Click image for larger version
