                    Tshankster -
I gotta say, once the permit process got rolling, I was very impressed with the professionalism of the people I've met at the Park's Department. I was down there last saturday to meet with the administration and they are as enthused as we are to bring racing back to the lower lake... Safety for both the racers and the spectators is of primary concern to them, as it is to us, and they are currently reviewing some final course layouts I submitted to determine what level of staffing will be required on their end. Based on initial impressions, I'm pretty confident this race will be a go - and as soon as I get the final word, Ross will be delivering the news to you.

We were originally talking a DJSA race on Saturday, and a RPM-IJSBA race on Sunday, with points being tracked from both days for an overall regional score, but I'm pretty sure we are going to be leaning towards a one day race on Saturday Nov 17th, with a primary purpose of determining who the Regional Champs are in California. There have been 3 previous "shootout races" up north, but this would be the first one held in the south's backyard. My hope is that because of the venue location, and because of an increase in so many racers hitting the water this year in both regions, that you ALL will have a sincere interest in representing your home turf for a year's worth of bragging rights and a huge a$$ regional trophy...

Soon as I get the word I'll be on the phone to Ross and we'll get this thing rolling!!!

Sure - then we can get more pics of you guys in the ER room...
Since its going to be a one day race we have to hammer out the logistics of who's doing what.
If our insurance carries the event I say no. If Ross's does then I guess its open for discussion.
We'll make the announcement as soon as the course layout gets approved by the parks dept.

I'll tell you this. Because of a fatality there in the past safety is their ONLY concern and they don't cut corners.
One thing that sold this event with them is how we run our races, and we're not going to change much up just because we're running down south. If theres a few guys who don't understand that - well, theres always next year to race wherever they want.

                        jes sayin

I'm all about safety too!! That being said I haven't seen 1 wreck from a rubber band RA (or ski) start or through the whole first turn all week here at WF's

Plenty of other mishaps for various reasons though, saw at least 4 ambulance rides yesterday alone.....
