Let's get a pot going for the person that will beat Memo. I'm throwing in $10. Winner gets the pot even if it's Memo.

          Count me in.

Norm, I will pitch in $10.00 also and $5.00 in rope to tie one of Memo's arms behind his back for the race. That should even things up for the rest of us.

Well here's hoping you all had a great Christmas and you're gearing up for New Years Day!!!
Working out in the fridgid cold the past week has finally caught up to me, but after spending the last 24 hours Nyquil'd out I think I'm back in action...

It's that time again where I am going to ask for your input in recognizing the efforts of a few special people in this race group. We already know who the top 5 class and top 10 divisional high point leaders and champs are, but I would like to hear from you regarding who you think deserves a little extra recognition during a great season of racing...

Junior time trial racer of the year -
              Intern racer of the year - ( we had 4 running > S.Wilson, J.Wilson, E.Templeton, W.Dewar)
Standup rookie of the year -
Sitdown rookie of the year -
              Superior Sportsmanship award -
Team Orange safety ski team rider of the year -
DJSA staff member of the year -
and my 2 fav's - for the 2 racers who may have not racked up the high points, but definitely racked up the thrill factor during the series... The TOP OUTLAW Standup & Sitdown racer of the year.

I've set aside 2 special awards for the 2012 race site and contributing sponsor of the year, mainly because the sacrifices these people made for us are probably known better by me than anyone else - but the rest is all up to you guys...

PLEASE EMAIL ME your comments and recommendations to [email protected] and we'll take it from there.

I hope to see most all of you soon at GKR for another memoriable awards day.
Details and the sign up list will be posted later tonight.
Thanks for your help with the above recommendations -

                      Ryan,

Jan 19th is a NO GO... I will post the new date as soon as its set in stone.
I'm shooting for a date in Feb but that depends on some key people being available and scheduling around the Mark Hahn...

To the DJSA “Outlaw Nation” ...

The date for the DJSA 2012 awards dinner has been set for
                            Saturday, Feb 9th 2012,
                            Starting at 1pm,
at Go Kart Racer in Burlingame.

                            1541 Adrian Rd
                            Burlingame, Ca. 94010
                            650-265-2829

I was almost thinking of mixing things up a little and having the awards party at a different venue, but apparently there are an overwhelming amount of people addicted to RACING in this group and as it was pointed out to me, when it comes down to it – there just isn’t a better place to have a racing awards party, than at the perfect place to race… Go Kart Racer!!

From 1pm till 4pm we be honoring the season's high point racers with...
                            > Top 5 class trophies
                            > Junior racer awards
                            > Top 10 divisional trophies
                            > Special recognition awards to some very deserving people
                            > and honoring our 2 repeat High Point Divisional Champions Doug Wolff and Norm Yee.

Dinner will be starting at 4:30, followed by possibly the most off the hook part of the night! Starting at 6pm, 92 djsa racers, staff, family members, friends or crew members will have the opportunity to do battle and qualify for the Go Kart Racer Challenge where the 3 fastest racers on 4 wheels will receive recognition and bragging rights for the year. The main event will feature the fastest 16 qualifying kart racers of the night - and when the smoke clears we'll see if someone can beat Memo “Milkman” Gidley at his own game and score the “MEMO GIDLEY BOUNTY” which could very easily be worth several hundred bucks by race time!! Its going to be wild, so remember to "pin it to win it" on those qualifying runs…

Please try to arrive early to give yourselves a chance to get checked in with the GKR staff, and to score some good seats while socializing with everyone you haven't seen in a few months before we start handing out awards. The rock bottom priced bar will be back again – but those of us serious about laying the smack down on the kart track will have to minimize the alcohol consumption until after the racing is over…

We should be done with the formal racing by 9:30 and then you can have a few beverages and race the rest of the night away up until closing - and if any of you want a piece of me - well that will be the time to "bring it kiddies."

This year Go Kart Racer will again streamline things a bit for us, giving me a few less things to worry about - so when you arrive you’ll check in and pay at the front counter. The admission price will be based on how many of you folks sign up…

If the awards list exceeds 100 people admission will be $35 per person.
If the list is under that, admission will be $40 per person.
(kids 12 and under dinner will be $10)

                            Admission price includes -
                            > the awards ceremony
                            > 2 complimentary drink tickers per adult
                            > all you can eat buffet dinner,
                            > pizza and dessert for the kids,
                            > free sodas at the soda machines,
                            > and entry to the kart racing challenge race for the first 92 people to sign up
                            > video arcade for the kids (and the big kids)

                            * any junior racers 12-17 who have no drivers license MUST attend the GKR junior driving school held on the weekends. Call GKR or visit online at www.gokartracer.com for requirements and info.

Last year I was surprised to find out how reasonable many of the local hotel rates were, and all within 10 minutes of GKR. If you plan on "celebrating" please consider getting a room for the night or most definitely have a designated driver lined up. All season long we kept the partying to a minimum (except for at jet effect) and we kept the focus on racing but on this one special night - green light to let your hair down but please be responsible!!!

Please send your rsvp info to [email protected]. It’s easier for me if you email or PM me directly rather than everyone trying to update the list themselves. I will post and update the guest and race list on the forums and at www.diablojsa.com on a daily basis.

I will need to know ~
                            1) Your name, and how many adults and kids 12 and under in your group for the awards dinner

                            2) For the GKR Challenge race list, I will need the first and last names of everyone racing in your group. The Challenge race is open to the first 92 racers to sign up.
                            * If you have junior racers in your group under 12 years of age, let me know and I’ll see if Art can put together another juniors group for the extra young guns.

Go Kart Racer has been a gracious sponsor of DJSA for many of our past seasons and I am again honored they are opening their doors to us for this event. Very special thanks to Dave, Art, and Elaina for all the help they give us in putting this together!!

Its going to be another special afternoon and evening for all of us, and I very much hope to see you there.

                              Hey guys,

The following people will be making a trip (or a few trips) to the front of the room to receive trophies and awards. Rather than your not knowing ahead of time, I’d like to give you each an opportunity to say thanks to those who help or support your efforts on the race course whether it be family, crew, friends, significant others, and of course – sponsors…so if there’s anyone on your “be thankful list” you have a couple days to prepare. I sincerely thank the racers and staff who responded with input and votes for the specialty awards, and I look forward to having a great time with all of you this Saturday!
