  • Jim needs to know - What are you running in 2013???

    Hey Outlaw Nation,

Something that helps you out - not having to pay a racing membership or association fee to race at djsa races. Why? Because I've always dug the fact our racing is open to anyone and everyone. You guys are already required to maintain current medical coverage on your own, and those who race the socal series and the IJSBA National and World Finals events have to hold IJSBA memberships. I consider us to be very much a professional racing "association" of which each and every one of you is a valuable "member", but for the next 3 years until it's time to pass the torch to someone else, I want to steer clear of having an official membership process but there is a trade off > like you guys helping me out a bit when needed...

Something that helps me out - knowing what the tentative class structure is going to look like during the upcoming year. In past seasons I've never really worried about it and just crossed my fingers on the morning of race-1, but it would help me in determining what kind of interest we have in each class, and I think you guys might like to know what kind of class size you're looking at as well. Just as with any of our other online "sign ups" I am going to ask you to look over the following classes and shoot me an email stating what classes you intend on running, your race #, and ski make.

As of right now, I am going to list the 800 Runabouts and Sport Sit GP 1100's as separate classes although depending on sign up numbers they may be merged into one class again. My first choice is to keep them separate but that won't happen if there are only 3 800 runabouts running the series...

Please check the list and email me at [email protected] with the requested info for any and all classes you plan to run. I thank you in advance for your help, and look forward to seeing you guys in a few short weeks at Tracy...

Class descriptions and the skis running them are listed in detail at www.diablojsa.com
There are also a few new safety rules listed on the update page as well.
Of top significant importance to me is that everyone is on the same page with the running of red buoys for red turns, and that you are aware of the new RED FLAG procedure listed on the page. Another new item is that each pit, or group pit, MUST HAVE a working fire extinguisher immediately accessable for use.

One thing that cracks me up, is that I try and make things as easy as possible for you like when it comes to - fueling...
You don't have to pull your ski out of the water, or move it 10 feet away from the water's edge - as long as you use the absorbant fuel pads I provide at my expense for your use... but there is always one guy that I see dumping 5 gallons of gas into his ski on the water - and not using a pad, at the risk of being dq'd or getting us booted out of a race site. Seriously? Really? Heres 4 words for you... don't be "that guy". When I tell the Grand Sierra that all racers use absorbant fuel pads and that no fuel will be staining their parking lot, what do you think they say when they watch Mav's Ustream videos and catch a glimpse of someone being lazy doing it the wrong way?

Go back to the mini sermon at the top of the page and re-read the part about what helps you and what helps me...
You guys racing safe helps me out. You guys paying attention to the very few things I ask helps me out, but in the long run the ones it helps out most is all you guys racing. We have a busy season ahead of us, but its also going to bring alot of fun with it - as long as you guys keep being the class act you've been for 7 years.

In 3 years all I want to do is sit back with a big smile of satisfaction, and tell people 10 years of DJSA racing was the most rewarding exciting boring thing I've ever done in my life. Watching 10 years of intense exciting thrilling racing, and all without any major incidents, injuries, or flaws.... help me get to that 10 year mark and I promise I'll do everything in my power to make it worth your while!!!

Any questions about the classes, or anything for that matter, give me a ring, a text, or send me an email - otherwise I hope to see most of you at the Tracy Hotlaps.

well yes I did Ryan..... I was going to run it past the administrator, but Norm didn't answer the phone so I made that decision on my own in the interest of building up the class. I've said before my goal was to hit the 10 year mark, and then I'd probably pass the torch on to someone else to carry on, but by lowering the Legend's age limit by a few years now I won't have to miss out on seeing you, Knowlden, Frendian, Mendoza, Lojewski, Peterson, Psycho Ward, Muscara, Fuhrman, Workman, and a few others going at it on the race course!!! I think the Legends class is going to be a blast this year!
