  • DJSA 2013 schedule updates

OK ok ok... I get the message!

Because of the mother's day weekend death threats, and because I found out this past weekend I wouldn't have any scorekeeps that weekend, we are pushing the Camp Far West race BACK one weekend to sat and sun May 18th and 19th. Juniors will run sunday morning.

Sat will be a 3 heat format.
Sun will be a 2 heat format with longer laps.

Hope this works for most everyone.

You guys think the Moms in this group are tough? Try dealing with the motocross gang!!!
I've already explained why we can't run on the weekend of May 11th and 12th.
I'm willing to dodge Hangtown on the 18th and make CFW a one day on sunday May 19th.

While a few of you are watching the thrills at nearby Hangtown, we can make saturday a formal practice day with Team Orange on the water - and maybe run the juniors in the afternoon??? That would leave sunday open for a 3 day format.

You guys make the call while I deal with this headache...

            Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahah...... no!
The 1st 14 people who walk in the front door at 6am get a free 32oz non fat iced latte so I couldn't pass it up...
but on a serious note - I'll be looking at ways to make a 300 ft section of cement into a fake beach
for 3 days. Stay tuned outlaws. If this goes, it could be the biggest and coolest thing we've done in 8 years and you
might just forgive me for any and all past schedule changes I've ever had to make!

Hes going to bail his two favorite Hooligans out of Juvenile Detention!

Have Fun Jim! Really look at that place because when I stopped by there and looked at it, it looked difficult to get skis in and out .

OK Outlaws, everyone wants to know what’s up with the remaining djsa race schedule. Aside from having to make a few slight changes to accommodate some pending plans in the works, things are looking like the work is now complete. (and you guys thought we couldn’t pull a few things off??? seriously? really??)

Series race 1 & 2 are on the books.

Series race 3 is on the books.

Series race 4 is being run on Sunday 6/23 at SSVR, with registration, practice, and juniors running Saturday the 22nd. As we did at CFW, there will be no charge for practice although SSVR day use fees will be in effect. I’m expecting a few people will be in Sparks practicing for the tour race a week later, so if you were one of the guys interested in throwing out a race to even the points chase, I guess this is one way to capitalize…

Series race 5 will be run at Eagal Lakes in Tracy on Sun 7/28. For those of you inquiring about tossing a race to even some point scores we aren’t going to do that – but – we’ll be handling that issue a different way. Saturday afternoon on 7/27 at Eagal Lakes we will feature time trials for Sunday start line picks, but when the sun goes down and the lights come on, those time trial positions will also group you up appropriately for some Saturday night bonus point short track bracket racing. Need to put some extra points on the board? Saturday night will be the time to do that so start practicing now – and make every buoy count!! Time trials will be important at this one.

Series race 6 will be run at the Mossdale Rock Quarry Lakes in Stockton on Sat & Sun August 24th and 25th, (pending the appropriate permits being approved by the county). Based on the referral of 800 Legend Racer Mike Fuhrman, Ricky Bobby and I viewed the site today and met the lake owner who is no stranger to hosting jet ski races… remember the past local races held at the infamous Oakwood Lake Resort??? Same owner – and the same guy who dug jet ski races back then, and who’s very interested in seeing what kind of show the outlaws put on. I looked around and didn’t see any neighbors so I asked Robert, “how do you feel about night races?” He got a big smile on his face and said, “not too many people do that do they?” Then it was my turn to smile as I said – “that’s why they call us outlaws!” I think the term used in reply was – “have at it!!”

Race 6 will be run in a slightly different format. Saturday will feature another junior time trials shootout, open course practice, time trials for start line picks, and as the sun goes down and the lights come on, a longer heat 1 under the lights for all classes. Heats 2 and 3 will resume Sunday morning and we will all be done at an early hour. This will be 1 scored race run over 2 days. If you can’t make Saturday you’ll suffer a dns, but make it up in the 2 heats on Sunday and you won’t be missing out on an entire day of points. I had 4 words when I saw the lake, the pit area, and the camping area – and that was “are you kidding me!!!” When you see it you’ll say the same 4 words…

It’s looking very much like Series Race 7 & 8 will in fact be run at the Grand Sierra in Reno on Saturday and Sunday September 21st and 22nd. The people I have been working with are just flat out incredible, and I sincerely thank them not only for putting up with me, but for placing trust and faith in the entire pwc racing outlaw nation as well. If you’re going to drive that far you might as well get a little racing in so -

Race 7 on Saturday will feature practice, time trials for start picks, and 2 heats in the afternoon. The 4 fastest times from the 5 fullest classes will also be in the running for some exhibition cash can racing before heat 3, (the feature of the day) which will be run under the lights at night. Heat 3 will be longer so start building up that stamina!!

Race 8 will be a double points Sunday with 3 heats of racing for every class. Because launching and recovery is unique, we will run a longer heat 1, and back to back heats 2 and 3 for every class. Race-8 will be the only double points race on the schedule this year.

I put it out to other regions who might want to battle norcal for a 5 ft trophy and some bragging rights, but with limited replies, if they want to do that they can show up like any other racers and take a shot at it. This will be a 2 day DJSA point series race, but as always – anyone who meets our requirements is welcome to come out and take on the outlaws…
The hotel has approved this event. I have a final meeting with the Aqua Range owner on June 28th in Reno. Following that meeting we can set some things in stone, but hang tight for now and hold off on making hotel reservations until I lock in a rate with a very cool hotel administration.

Series Race 9 &10 “Jet Effect” previously scheduled in September, will be run in October at Lake Minden as the last race weekend of the 2013 series. Last year we raced there in 80 degree weather and I got to see the Giants win the series afterwards. I am hopeful for both factors to repeat themselves. The tentative date for Jet Effect will be Saturday and Sunday October 26th and 27th.

On Saturday Juniors will have their annual race clinic in the morning, followed by practice and their last time trial shootout of the year. The adults will run practice and a 2 heat format. Saturday afternoon will feature either standup vs sitdown softball, or possibly volleyball if we want to mix things up a bit. After the rider appreciation outlaw caf?® bbq dinner, the always entertaining RC car racing antics will bring the night to a close. Sunday will feature 3 heats of racing for every class.

Except for the October race dates – everything else is looking solid and I don’t see having to change any other dates the rest of the season. It took a little bit of work to put some things together, but I appreciate your patience and understanding as we tried to make some things happen. As it turns out, I thing we made some pretty cool stuff happen. I get to watch you guys race 3 times under the lights!!! Remember how I just wanted djsa to be like Saturday night dirt track racing at Antioch Speedway??? Guess it’s true when they say “be careful what you wish for”… cuz it’s happening!!!

Thanks for your ongoing support – and your love of pwc racing.
See you guys in a couple weeks at SSVR.
