Just got off the phone with JetTrim. For the VXR you have to remove the factory cover in order to install those tabs. The seat must be wrapped in heavy duty plastic for water proofing.

The 5 tabs are in the middle by the bolster.

Initially it may sound high, but if you add salary, shop overhead, benefits, pension, etc its pretty good for an experienced pro shop in the new england region.
Lol sure for the owner, workers get shit n peanuts , meanwhile owners making 85 plus an hr. not bad to run an air stapler
      Liberal? Lol
      Not even close.

Did jettrim provide the plastic as part of the cover or make note of it? Im guessing not. im thinking the install cost just doubled. ;(

Its not mentioned on their web site and no plastic came with it. I have heard from others that their shops recommended doing it this way as well. Maybe I'll take the OEM cover off myself as that should save the installer some time thus reduce the cost a bit.

If I had my own place I'd go out tomorrow and by a decent compressor and just do it myself but right now that's not feasible.

Jet Trim told me to use a heavy duty garbage bag for the plastic. I used a huge garbage bag, put the seat inside it and installed the cover. Then I trimmed off the excess garbage bag. Worked great.

Hehe, 300 for a cover, which requires a garbage bag....priceless only issue is that jt should have noted it the cover is not a complete kit.

Any cover that is stitched needs plastic. If you read Jet Trims website it says covers are meant to go over the original. What exactly would a kit entail?

True, covers require a non permiable layer underneath, but most covers simply get laid over the existing oem cover. In this case he and you ordered covers without JT disclosing early that this version requires ripping out the existing cover, kit would include a 30 mil stronger then superman cover. I just dont like suprises when buying premium items, if it was a knockoff I would expect dealing with issues. Hope you used a glad bag

did mine at the end of the summer, used a Stanley staple gun, took me 45 minutes, but the vxr seat looks much harder to do.
The staples are holding up good so far, might have to redo it with the compressor next year

I must be missing something. You have to put heavy plastic under the new seat cover so it's waterproof but you also have to run the tabs through the foam in the seat. That would mean cutting slots in the plastic and the foam to run the tabs through. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the plastic as it's not waterproof when it has holes in it.
