Figured I'd get this thread going with a tentative date of 6/24/18 and start some discussion... What do we think about bringing this shit back to Yonkers? I know its ghetto but its where this ride originated and I'm thinking the extra distance is what has made interest in this ride dwindle down the last year. I could be wrong and that's why I'm leaving it open for discussion...

Where: Georges Island Park or Yonkers JFK Marina (now with moar dock)
When: 6/24/18 @9am; everyone in the water by 10am

For those of you that are new to the PWC world and did not know Bruce, his passing is coming up on 3 years now. Bruce, who went by the user name 1200 stx-r joined Greenhulk in 2007. When it came to his 2012 VXS he was always pushing the limits. If you read through his build thread you will see he managed to hit 75mph which is pretty much unheard of on the n/a ski. RIP BRUCE .

OUELLETTE, BRUCE ALLEN Bruce Allen Ouellette, 43, of Winsted, CT passed away Monday February 9th at Waterbury Hospital. Bruce was born in Meriden, CT on May 18, 1971, son of Donna (Ouellette) Church of Wallingford and the late David Gracie.

Bruce was a graduate of Platt High School in Meriden and then began his military career in the Air Force. In 1991 Bruce became a member of the CT Air National Guard. He was assigned to the 103 Airlift Wing, 103 Logistics Squadron, Vehicle Repair Flight as a Vehicle Equipment Repair Technician. Bruce attained the rank of Technical Sergeant (E-6) and received numerous awards throughout his military career. Bruce was a lifetime member of VFW Post 296 in Winsted, CT, and also a member of the Masons, Amos Beecher Lodge 121/Village Lodge 29.


In addition to his mother, Bruce is survived by sisters, Shannon Bongiovanni of Torrington and Jennifer Basley of Meriden, his grandmother, Elise Ouellette of Meriden and the love of his life Karin Bascetta of Winsted. Bruce also leaves behind nieces, nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Graveside services will be held at Connecticut Veteran Cemetery, Middletown, CT at 10 am on Tuesday 2/17. Friends may call Monday 6-8 at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Avenue, Torrington, CT. A Masonic service will be performed. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his name to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675.

Idk .. we usually have a group of 8 or so that meet up from Long Island and drive together..

And for the launch location. .. George's Island Park adds ~25 miles each way on the water.. I know last time the conditions sucked but it felt like 100 miles from the Tap to the launch on the way back.. out of Yonkers everyone can easily make it on 1 tank of fuel.

Thanks Mike for setting this up this year, great water pictures and really nice reminding us all the origin of the ride and keeping the memory of Bruce alive. Traditionally, with the exception of last year, this was usually scheduled for the 2nd Sunday in June with a rain date the 4 weekend. I am fine with anything and everything. Last year we had the NYC Jetski invasion which was epic the same day, I've never seen so many jetskis on the east river. Only reason I brought it up is that usually around the last weekend of June is when there are a lot of other group rides going on. I hope the Boston and NH folks make it again this year. Thanks again, you can count me in with 4 skis.

I haven't been active on hear in a while, reading this thread I'm sorry to hear about Bruce's passing. He gave me a lot of help on my VXR a few years back. I plan on coming this year haven't been on this run since like 2012. Going to try and make it this year and bring a few friends.
