  • Downtown to Astoria Trip Ride! (2 day event)

Its just about that time to start planning the ride from Portland Down Town to Astoria, OR.

First off we need the dates to be decided on. Ether August 11th-12th -or- 18th-19th
We are shooting for the 11/12th then if weather is not good can backup to 18/19th

Here is some trip Details. I will update this first post as I get more information!

    Departing: Willamette Park Docks
    Address:
6805 SW Macadam Ave, Portland, OR 97219
    DATE: Shooting for
    August 11th-12th
TIME: TBA - (Will be early morning 8-9am most likely)
    RIDERS MEETING: TBA

    Destination: Astoria, OR
Working out details of the over night stay. The plan is to stay at a hotel. I'm still working on this. But i have an idea. Stay tuned!
Over Night Docking: Port of Astoria
Fee: $20 per night per watercraft under 30' long.
I spoke to the administration office, they will do there best to accommodate us all. she has a spot that most dont care for, because there is no power at the slip
but its ideal for us. we will need to bunch up and maximize the amount of skis per slip. so please BRING AN EXTRA ROPE!!!
    HOTEL: --PENDING INFO UPDATE--
feel free to share rooms to split the cost for those that want to safe some money for fuel!
OPTION: Astoria Riverwalk Inn (waiting to hear on group rates and availability)
OPTION: Camp out or choose a hotel not on the water. but a few blocks inland.
Cannery Pier: Fully Booked and can not accommodate us this time of year. not a large hotel and a little to fancy for just a over night stay anyway.

There will be some local Annual festival going on 11th. Boat parades, and many other festival things. should add to the fun!

Will work on mapping out all the docks along the way. In case some one breaks down, They can be towed to the nearest Dock and then picked up by one of our trailers. The plan is to have a few of our tow rigs be driven along the way. Just in case any one needs it. This service will be provided at a low fee. Just enough to make it worth the time and fuel. not trying to get rich of this... LOL. Im sure its better then being stranded. just an option!

Also for light fixes. I'm planning to have a few boat friends come along as well. they can carry a few cans of extra fuel just in case. Along with a tool box with some basics to get a grate off or a few rods to clear out debris from pumps. Small things that can be fixed in under a 30 min. Anything taking more then that will slow the group down. So I would say look at option B (tow rig)

    RULES:
I will update these as well. And we will also go over day of the trip! last ride was fun. But we where way spread out. So much so that if one of us would have had troubles, The rest of the group would not have known. Along with a few other things. But ill update this soon. This is just a template for now.

What I need from you! Need to know who is interested in going! Also your ideas of how we can make this a more interesting safe experience.

it is summertime and many GH members do not check in here every day.

eventually someone may post an update.
