Hey Shane! I'm in Sarasota and relatively new to the ski scene, got a 2001 gp1200r that I bought last summer and have had a ton of fun playing with and wrenching on. It being my first ski, I've done a ton of reading and have learned a whole lot from this glorious forum and all the kick-a$$ members. Have done a bunch of small upgrades and PM type of stuff, being an old two stroke it seems there is always something I can work on. It's not the fastest thing out there but it'll scoot pretty good when I can stay hooked up.
Would be happy to hook up with you and do some riding, my g/f and I ride almost every weekend when we can if the weather is right. We've been mostly riding by Lido in Big Pass and around that area, there's a lot in the area that we haven't checked out yet. Want to do some river runs this Spring and explore some new areas along the gulf. Have found that we like to launch locally on Lido (2min from St Armands), much nicer than 10th St in SRQ and they have a hose hookup as well to make rinse and flush a snap.
I'm right there with you as far as liking to get a little aggressive when the time is right but also like to follow rules, be respectful, and not be an a$$hole on the water. Would love to find somewhere to jump some surf but also respect the local area and don't want to get into that type of stuff riding alone, too many things can happen.
Anyhow - shoot me a pm, I'll give you my email & cell and we can talk.

Jeff, do you have an address for the boat ramp you're talking about? Maybe we can put a group ride together.

Its called Ken Thompson boat ramp. On Ken Thompson Parkway, it's right across the street from Mote Marine. 2dbl paved ramps, bring your own hose.
Go to St Armand's, turn right at the circle, go about 1/8 mile and bear to the right (sign for boat ramp), down about 1/4 mile on right.
Would love to put together a SRQ group to ride!

I know exactly where that is, I will try it out soon!

Do you guys ride in the winter months? I was out last week and plan to be on the water again at the end of this week.

hey guys, I'm planning on coming down there sometime in April.. I have a friend who lives in the Tampa area and another one down in Englewood.. I'm bringing the ski and I'm looking to do some riding!
