Not really anything out that way except the Brazos but you need to head way down south for it to be navigable. There is always Lake Conroe if you like riding in a bath tub. We have sometime done a ride down the San Jacinto river to Kemah. There is also Clear Lake, also a bath tub. Lake Houston can be Ok, sometimes.
Yeah, not many choices. I asked the guys at Wild West Honda, Yamaha, Sea Doo and they were like, most people go to the Austin area or Somerville. They sell a lot of watercraft for no dang place to ride.....

Somerville. Army corp of engineering lake....no one lives on the water so no bulkheads for never ending waves like Lake Conroe. Ride during the week and early in the day. The western portion of Lake Somerville is shallow and has stumps. In fact the lake is no deeper than 22 feet so when the wind picks up it can get choppy.
Recommend launching at Overlook boat ramp but it gets busy on the weekend. Fee is $5. There is also a camping area near by.
you can put in at league city boat ramp or walter hall park and ride clear creek in kemah. one way goes up the creek and the other way takes you into kemah and then the bay.
